ABSTRACT: The duality between good and evil is a common topic in all civilizations regardless of chronology or geographical location. It is a conflict reflected in art history, and on the present occasion, through the iconographic types of Cain killing Abel as well as Tur murdering Iraj. The roots of these myths are deeply embedded in two highly relevant written sources, the Bible and the Shahnameh or The Book of Kings . The latter was written by the great Iranian poet Ferdowsi.  The legends, despite having different origins, nevertheless have many similarities and they share a particular iconographic type.
